Salem Community High School seniors told they 'finished strong'
Salem Community High School Superintendent Dr. Brad Detering told 178 graduates Sunday afternoon that the class of 2024 'finished strong' in sports, extracurricular activities, and in helping the community. On the academic side he noted 35 finished with a 4.0 or above grade point average and the school had 24 State Scholars.

Street light pole crashes down in Main and Broadway wreck in Salem
One driver was injured in an early Sunday morning crash at Main and Broadway in Salem that ended with a street light pole at the corner being struck and knocked into the intersection. Pre-Need Contract Hotline available for those with arrangements through former Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home
The Illinois Comptroller's Office has made arrangements with the now closed Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home to have its pre-need funeral records moved to a licensed pre-need funeral provider. The move is the result of Hugh Moran agreeing to give up his funeral business and never be employed in the death care industry again due to unsanitary conditions found in the funeral home. Jury finds Chicago police officer not guilty in girlfriend's 2021 shooting death
CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago police officer has been acquitted in the 2021 fatal shooting of a woman who was the mother of his child. A Cook County jury on Friday found Pierre Tyler, 32, not guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Andris Wofford.
